MANHUNTER was "maligned?"  I don't recall that.My only criticism was that the production design was overly vivid, a carry-over from Mann's "Miami Vice."

In contemporary fandom there seems to be a backlash over that very criticism. Then there's the "it changes things from the book!" people and "if it ain't Hopkins, it doesn't count" crowd.
